Creating A Personalized Baby Gift Basket
If you have a dear friend who is going to have a baby, consider creating a personalized baby gift basket as a way to show the friend how special she is to you. Never done it? Follow these simple tips!
Decide What To Include
What should you put in a personalized baby gift basket? Whatever the mom-to-be has asked for or would want, of course! Whether baby toiletries or clothes or diapers or washcloths, put in a variety of items to make your personalized baby gift basket more interesting.
Get The Parts – Or Make Them!
If you plan far enough in advance, you can make things to put in the personalized baby gift basket. This could be clothes – knitted, crocheted, or sewn; a wall hanging with personalized information of birth, name, etc., or even a baby blanket with the baby’s name stitched on the binding.
If you aren’t making the items, go buy them. Whatever you put in will create a unique baby gift basket. Gather them together and get them ready for the basket – removing price tags and extra packaging is a good idea.
Find An Appropriate Size Of Basket
A basket doesn’t have to be expensive, though it should be nice. In this day and age of struggling economies, feel free to skimp a bit on the basket – it’s an easy place to get away with spending a bit less. Your personalized baby gift basket won’t suffer from it.
First, check your house. You may have the perfect basket sitting in your garage! Price? Free!
If you don’t have a good basket at home (that you’re willing to give to your special friend), you might want to check any local thrift stores or garage sales – those baskets can be cheap yet still cute and stylish enough to qualify for a personalized baby gift basket.
If you haven’t found one elsewhere, check your local home goods store for cute baskets – they often have them for not much too much money.
Only if nothing else pans out should you go to an expensive store to find a basket. But that option is available, should you not find one elsewhere.
Now – what size is “appropriate”? You want it big enough to hold all the things you are giving your special friend in her personalized baby gift basket. But, on the other hand, you want it to look crowded and full, not empty or like the basket is oversized. If the basket you have is too big, you could add another item – maybe a cute baby towel or washcloth.
Making It Clearly Visible
The best thing to use to wrap your personalized baby gift basket is cello wrap. It comes in many colors – though often clear is best, so the gift is clearly visible! Cello is available wherever gift wrap is sold – and also pick up some raffia or shredded paper or tissue to go in the bottom of the basket as cushioning.
Putting It All Together
Once you’ve got everything, it’s time to put it all together. Put the cushioning material – whether raffia, shredded paper, or what-have-you in the bottom, then arrange the basket with the gifts standing up and visible from the front – which is whatever side of the basket you deem it to be. Be sure all of them can be seen and nothing is hiding behind anything else! Then wrap the cello around it and tape it together. Add a bow if you want, and a card, and you’re ready to go to the baby shower!
